Lip Kit Installation

How to DIY install a lip kit. Professional installation recommended.

Material

  • Our lip kits are made of high quality polyurethane (in some cases ABS plastic, these will be listed). These are more durable than other materials such as fiberglass, low grade polyurethane, etc. This provides maximum durability for daily drivability as well as making it easier to mold them (without breaking) during the installation process.
  • These lips need to be molded during installation. This can be achieved by setting them in the hot sun before installing or using a heat gun on low to mold the lip to the factory bumper while installing.

Professional Install

  • We all know lip kits can transform the look of our entire vehicle. For this reason and to guarantee the finish you deserve, we always recommend that you get a professional to install them.
  • While this may seem like a simply DIY, that is not always the case.
  • Body shops can mold, heat, shape, prep, paint and install these lip kits the proper way for the perfect impression.

DIY Install

If professional installation isn't an option:

  • First, test fit the lip to the vehicle before painting or sanding, etc.
  • Have a body shop prep and paint the lip (or paint yourself if inclined to do so).
  • Double sided tape can be applied for a more secure fitment. Place this on the edge of the surface that touches the factory bumper. Be sure to clean the area with alcohol beforehand.
  • Set the lip in the hot sun or use heat gun on low to mold the lip to the factory bumper while installing.
  • Install using the provided screws and/or brackets. Usually a couple screws on each end of the lip (into the bumper) and several in the middle to secure it. Can also install brackets for added security if desired. Sometimes, holding or twisting the lip into place while bolting them in place may be appropriate.
